A Psalm (Psalms of Jeff) 2
Lord, the need is so great.
The hungry, the sick, the thirsty,
the misplaced, the orphans and widows,
the scattered, the dying, the weak.
Lord what can one man do?
Millions are fleeing war, dying of hunger.
I am paralyzed and overwhelmed!
Lord what can I do?
If I cast aside everything I have
I could not make a dent in the problem.
Yet I must do something. If I go
will I be a help or just another person,
another mouth, another burden?
What do these people need, Lord?
Am I upset because they don't have
the bare minimum I believe a person needs
to survive or are their needs different?
Are you doing a work in these people where
my injecting myself into their situation could
actually interfere with your will?
Surely you cannot want thousands
to die of hunger, could you?
You are a God of love, perfect love casts out fear,
so I must believe that you want me to relieve fears.
There are things my heart knows that my mind
cannot understand, I know that by lifting up one
person, we all rise. I will find a way to feed the hungry,
to care for the orphan, to comfort the widow,
to gather the scattered, to tend to the dying
and protect the weak.
I can do all things through God who gives me strength,
through the Holy Spirit who gives me direction
and through Jesus, who showed that there is no
greater love than for us to server one another,
even on to death. Open the doors, I will be your hands.
A Psalm (Psalms of Jeff) 1
You seem to be far off in responding
to urgent prayers about certain subjects.
Though in many ways you feel close and speak to me,
on these matters it seems like there is a dead spot,
or you have turned away.
I am confused if I have done something
that has caused you anger,
some reason my prayers go unanswered.
Whatever it may be, reveal it to me
so I can hear your voice on this matter.
I don't want to admit it, but I am feeling resentful
that others prosper and I seem to be left with scraps.
Am I justified in feeling neglected?
If you won't answer me, then at least give me a sign
that you have heard me and what you want me to do.
I know your ways are beyond my understanding,
I know your timing is perfect. I know you love me.
You have plans, I have fears; give me faith.
to urgent prayers about certain subjects.
Psalms, Prose and Passages
Give me your eyes for just one second
Give me your eyes so I can see
Everything that I keep missing
Give me your love for humanity
Give me your arms for the broken hearted
The ones that are far beyond my reach
Give me you heart for the ones forgotten
Give me your eyes so I can see
"Give Me Your Eyes" by Brandon Heath
Psalm 37 says:
"Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this"
Take delight in the Lord, love what he loves, see how he sees, want what he wants. and he will give you the desires of your heart, because what you want is aligned with what he wants and His will will prevail.
